Lowell C. Hammond was born Oct. 1, 1907 to Eugene “Gene” and Mattie Buddy Hammond. He died Jan. 31, 1944 and is buried in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.
Sgt. Hammond served with the U.S. Army 15th Infantry, 3rd Division in World War II and was KIA. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
