William Junior “Bill” Clayton was born Sept. 26, 1922 to William J. and Lula L. Otten Clayton. He died Nov. 10, 2006 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell, IA.
Petty Officer Clayton served in World War II with the U.S. Navy becoming part of a crew doing submarine patrol, based in England, protecting ships going overseas. He flew in B-24 Liberator bombers. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart.
