Robert Leo Bierma was born Nov. 22, 1916 to Hessel and Ivy Jane DeLong Bierma. He died Feb. 23, 2001 and is buried in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, VA.
Sgt. Bierma served in World War II with the U.S. Army in the China-Burna-India Theater.
