Charles Laverne Benn was born Nov. 2, 1918 to Ruben M. and Addie Gibson Benn. He died Dec. 23, 2012 and is buried in Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, IA.
Sgt. Benn served in World War II with the U.S. Army under General Patton in Egypt. He worked as a clerk in the 15th Air Service Group. He earned multiple ribbons and awards, including a Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Stars.
