Sergeant Barboe Wounded in North African Fighting
Word that their son, Sergeant Robert C. Barboe, was seriously injured in action in the north African area was received Thursday by Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Barboe, 808 Bluff Street. The injury was received February 20, according to a telegram from the war department.
Sergeant Barboe, 22, joined the National Guard here at the age of 16. He went with the Sioux City National Guard Company to Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, then to Camp Dix, New Jersey, for training.
He served in Ireland before being moved to North Africa. The message from the war department stated that reports on the condition of the wounded soldier will be forwarded to the parents as soon as they are available.

Wounded
Sergeant Robert C. Barboe, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Barboe, 803 Bluff Street was wounded in action somewhere in North Africa last February 20. He left here with the National Guard before the outbreak of war and served in Ireland before being sent to Africa.
