1ST. LT. BUTLER BACK IN U. S.
W. C. Bombardier-Navigator, Has Air Medal, 3 Oak Leaves.
First Lt. Franklin Butler, son of Mrs. Libbie Butler of this city, has completed 30 missions as a bombardier-navigator aboard a B-24 in the European theater and has arrived back in the United States, according to word received by his mother.
Lieutenant Butler left for overseas duty in Mid-April and has won the air medal and three oak leaf clusters for his many missions with a Liberator bombardment group.
Mrs. Butler received a telegram Monday from the lieutenant which stated he had returned to “God’s country,” but gave no news on when he would be home on leave.
Lieutenant Butler’s brother, Captain Ralph Butler, who has been overseas in Africa and Egypt the past two and one-half years, is serving as a meteorologist in Egypt. Captain Butler expects to be home on leave sometime in December.

ALBERT FRANKLIN BUTLER
Albert Franklin Butler, 53, a former Webster City resident, died Monday morning at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Westover Funeral home in Des Moines with burial in Calvary cemetery at Webster City. The estimated time of burial here will be at 1 p.m.
Albert Franklin Butler, son of M. L. and Elizabeth Beem Butler, was born July 13, 1920 at Webster City. He attended the Webster City schools, and graduated in 1939. He grew to young manhood in this community.
He served during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and seeing action in the European war theater being attached to the 93rd bomb group of the Eighth Force. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three bronze clusters.
He was married to Mary Steinbauer of Webster City, and the couple had resided in Des Moines for the past 22 years. Prior to moving to Des Moines, they resided in Chicago a short time and also in Webster City.
Mr. Butler had served as senior accountant for the Wheeler division of the St. Regis Paper Co.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, David Franklin, and Jonathan Lee, both at home; his father, M. L. Butler of Webster City; one sister, Mrs. Grace Fairchild, Webster City; two brothers, Ralph L. Butler of El Paso, Texas, and John Earl Butler of Holland, Iowa.

Albert Franklin ‘Frank’ Butler was born July 13, 1920 to Myram Lester and Elizabeth Estelle ‘Libbie’ Butler. He died Mar. 4, 1974 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
Lt. Butler served in World War II with the Army Air Corps, 93rd Bomb Group as a navigator on a B-24 in the European Theater of Operations.
