Clarence Donald “Donald" Briggs was born Dec. 11, 1916 to B. H. and Mary Jane “Jane” Smith Briggs. He died Dec. 18, 1943 and is buried in Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, IA.
Ensign Briggs served in World War II with the U.S. Navy Amphibious SLU Unit #1 US Naval Advanced Training Base, Appledore, England and drowned while performing his duty off the coast of England.
