Donald Lowell Berry

3 Brothers in Navy

The navy is well represented in the Ralph E. Berry home northwest of Stanhope since three sons of Mr. and Mrs. Berry are all connected with some branch of the naval service. Oldest of the trio—Claude, 25—enlisted in the service in January, 1941, and is now a machinist’s mate, first class aboard a sub in the south Atlantic. Next to enter the navy was Gerald O., 21, who was inducted in October, 1943, and is a fireman, first class, with the amphibious forces located in the south Pacific. Donald L., 24, was inducted Jan. 26, and is attending an armed guard training school at Gulfport, Miss. He is a seaman, second class. The Berry family operates a 160-acre farm near Stanhope.
