Berkley Berglund, 69, of Stratford, died Wednesday, May 13, 1987 at the Story City Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Dayton. Father James Tigges, Rev. Dale Kelley and John Berglund officiated. A rosary was held at the church and a Mass was held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. A scripture service was held at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford.
Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery in Dayton.
Mr. Berglund was born August 28, 1917 at Stratford, the son of Olof and Iva (Iles) Berglund.
He married Lupe Uballe at the Church of the Sacred Heart Rectory in Boone on October 2, 1941.
He was the town marshall for 20 years and most recently he had been a school bus driver for the Stratford Community Schools. While living in California, he and his wife were house parents for wards of the court.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Rita Martin of Modesto, California, Dolores Kuhlmann of Denison; three sons, Daniel of San Diego, California, David of Los Angeles, and John of Webster City; two sisters, Virginia Orwig of Russell, and Lois Swanson of Stratford; three brothers, Marvin of Grand Junction, Colorado, Philip of Dayton and Norris of Stratford.
He was a member of Christ the King church and the American Legion Post at Stratford. He served with the Navy in World War II.
