IN UNIFORM.
First Lt. Samuel J. Bach, son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Bach, Correctionville Road, has been awarded the fifth oak leaf cluster to his air medal for meritorious achievement during heavy bombing attacks on Nazi military and industrial targets in coordination with allied ground forces. He is a veteran of 25 missions and now is serving with the 94th bombing group which was cited by the president for its bombing of important German targets. Lt. Bach is a graduate of Central High school and also attended Iowa State College. He joined the army air forces in April, 1942, received his pilot training at Blytheville, Arkansas and was awarded his wings and commission in October 1942.

First Lt. Samuel J. Bach, returning from eight and a half months overseas in the European theater of operations, will arrive this week at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., prior to visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Bach, Correctionville road. Lt. Bach served as a B-17 pilot with the Eighth air force and has completed 35 combat missions with 258 hours of operational combat flying.
