John Philip “Phil” Armstrong was born Nov. 7, 1923 to Lester Elmer and Beulah Shipley Armstrong. He died Nov. 9, 1993 and is buried in Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, IA.
Petty Officer Armstrong served in World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard.
