Gene Lloyd Ames was born Dec. 13, 1925 to W. H. and Eva Mae Darr Ames. He died Oct. 26, 1945 and is buried in Fjeldberg Cemetery, Huxley, IA.
Petty Officer Ames served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and took part in the invasion of Iwo Jima, where he remained until he was killed in a jeep accident while serving his country.
