Pfc. Edward B. Adams

Back With Unit

Word has been received here by his parents that Pfc. Edward B. Adams is back with the 2nd armored division (the famous Hell-on-Wheels division) after being burned in a tank explosion which occurred April 17, at Magdeburg, Germany.

He is an assistant gunner on the tank which was hit while in action by a Panzerfaust or German bazooka. Adams is now in Berlin with the army of occupation. They are living in a nice house, playing a military radio taken from Herman Goering’s quarters.

Pfc. Adams was also awarded the purple heart medal while in the hospital in southern England, which has been received by his parents. He recently wrote of the parade held for President Truman July 16 on the great four lane autobahn highway, describing the endless line of men and tanks standing at attention to welcome the group.

On his way back to his unit, he met a school chum, Pvt. Cleece Silvers also from Webster City.
