2nd Lt. Donald W. Storm, who with his friend, 2nd Lt. Walter Stackhouse of Philadelphia, Pa., have been visiting the home of Lt. Storm’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Storm, have left for the Lincoln air base at Lincoln, Neb., where they will now be stationed.

Word About Missing Son
Mr. and Mrs. Will Storm have received additional word from the government not to consider the notice that their son, Lt. Donald Storm was missing in the American area as final. They have also received a letter written by Lt. Storm on July 20, in which he gave no indication of where he was, but stated that they had a pleasant trip going over.

Lt. Donald Storm Is Reported Dead

MACEDONIA – Official word has been sent to Mr. and Mrs. Will Storm by the war department stating that their son, Lt. Donald Storm, who has previously been reported as missing somewhere between Greenland and Ireland, had been killed July 21. No other information was given. Lt. Storm had completed his training in the army air force and was enroute for duty overseas when his death occurred.

Hold Memorial for Lt. Donald Storm

MACEDONIA – Memorial services for Lt. Donald W. Storm, 21, reported missing July 21 when his plane disappeared between Greenland and Iceland, were held here Sunday under the auspices of Ruby Smith Legion post, with the Rev. C. E. McPherson officiating.
Lt. Storm, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Storm, was graduated from the Macedonia school in 1941 and inducted into the service on Jan. 23, 1943. He was commissioned a second lieutenant at Coral Gables in April, 1944. He served as a navigator.
Excerpts from a letter testifying to Lt. Storm’s ability was read by the Rev. Mr. McPherson from Lt. Gen. Barney M. Giles, deputy commander of the U. S. army air forces.

MACEDONIA – Out-of-town guests at the William Storm home on Sunday: were Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Clark and family of Merrill, Mrs. Vera Brenton of Villisca, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stowig, and Miss Lavonn Aukand of Council Bluffs.
Pfc. Earl K. Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Nelson, is home for a 30-day furlough after being stationed in the Aleutian islands for two years. On Sunday, he served as a color guard at the memorial service held for Lt. Donald W. Storms.

Donald William Storm was born Nov. 21, 1923 to William P. and Ella V. Clark Storm. He died July 21, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England.
2nd Lt. Storm served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
