Pvt. Lewis C. Stacey, Jr.

 

KILLED IN ITALY

Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Stacey, 2124 Avenue G, have received notification stating that their son, Pvt. Louis C. Stacey, was killed in action in the Italian theater of war sometime in October. He had been overseas two years.

Pvt. Stacey Is Returned For Burial

The body of Pvt. Lewis Clarence Stacey, jr., son of Lewis C. Stacey, sr., 2910 R avenue, Omaha, will arrive in Council Bluffs Thursday. Stacey was killed in action in Naples, Italy, on October 29, 1943. He was with the Service company, 168th infantry regiment, 34th division.

Survivors include three brothers, James and Delbert (Lewis’ twin) of Omaha, and Stewart in the Veterans hospital in Hot Springs, S. D.; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Marley of Council Bluffs; and his step-mother of Omaha.

Pvt. Stacey was born in Colby, Kan., and attended school in Phillipsberg, Kan. He joined the Iowa National guard Feb. 10, 1941. He was awarded 4 battle stars, the European theater ribbon, good conduct medal, before Pearl Harbor ribbon and the Purple Heart.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from the Tyler-Rusch chapel, with Captain Magnus Michalsen of the Salvation Army officiating. The V.F.W. post No. 737 will conduct military rites at the grave in Oak Grove cemetery, Missouri Valley.

Funerals

Committal rites for Pvt. Lewis C. Stacey, jr., will be held at Oak Grove cemetery in Missouri Valley Wednesday. The boy will be taken from the Tyler-Rusch funeral home at 10 a.m., with the V.F.W. in charge. Burial was postponed from Sunday because of flood conditions in Missouri Valley.
