Word has been received here that Aviation Cadet Lynn Springer has been transferred from primary flying school at Visalia, Calif., to basic flying school at Chico, Calif. Cadet Springer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Springer, 124 Hunter avenue. He was graduated from Thomas Jefferson high school in June, 1942, and has been in he army eleven months.

COMPLETES BASIC
Lynn Irwin Springer, 19, an aviation cadet, has completed basic pilot training at the army air field in Chico, Calif., according to an announcement Saturday. His is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Springer, 124 Hunter avenue.

LOCAL YOUTH DIES IN PLANE CRASH
Lyle Springer is Victim at Field
Lynn Irwin Springer, 19, 124 Hunter avenue, died Saturday afternoon at Luke field, Ariz., from injuries received in an army plane crash, details of which were not immediately made available. He was a pilot in the army air corps advanced school
Springer graduated from Thomas Jefferson high school in June 1942 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Springer, 124 Hunter avenue. He had college training at Stephens Point, Wis., primary training at Visalia, Calif., and was later assigned to the base at Chico, Calif., before being sent to Luke air field.
Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Wayne of El Centro, Calif., Norman of Council Bluffs, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Springer of Harlan and F. E. Mott of
Des Moines.
Woodring funeral home will be in charge of arrangements. The body is expected here Monday evening. Springer left Council Bluffs in October 1942 following his enlistment as an air-cadet.

Military Rites for Springer
Full military rites are planned for Aviation Cadet Lynn Springer, 19, 124 Hunter Avenue, killed last Saturday in an army plane crash at Luke Field, Arizona.
Services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Woodring's Chapel, the Rev. Arthur Stearns of the Community Chapel officiating. Rainbow Post No. 2 of American Legion will conduct rites at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. A detail from Fort Omaha will act as military escort and firing squad, and pallbearers will be from the R.O.T.C. unit at Thomas Jefferson High School, of which Springer was a former officer.
The body will be at the residence until Saturday noon and then be returned to the Woodring Chapel to lie in state from 12 to 4 p.m. Committal will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. William Richmond and Mrs. Laura Petersen of Oskaloosa, who have been visiting at the Jack Manz home, returned to their homes on Tuesday. They were called here by the death of a nephew, A/C Lynn Springer. Others at the Manz home for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Coker, Mrs. Charles Best, Mrs. Orville Coker and Mrs. Minnie Hoopner of Shelby.
