IN UNIFORM
Andrew Shaltanis, 2604 Leech avenue, has reported for basic training at San Mateo, Cal., following his appointment as a cadet-midshipman in the merchant marine academy. Upon completion of this training, he will be assigned to sea duty aboard a merchant vessel for six to eight months and then will report to the merchant marine academy at Kings Point, N.Y., for advanced training. On his graduation he will be licensed as a third assistant engineer and commissioned as ensign in the naval reserve and the maritime service.
