Talk With Son After Six Years
OAKLAND – After six years the Rev. and Mrs. Richard Rowe have heard the voice of their son, S. Sgt. Morse l. Rowe, 25, former prisoner of the Japanese at Santo Tomas, who arrived at San Francisco May 9 and telephoned his parents.
Sgt. Rowe is now at an army hospital in San Francisco, but is expected to return to Oakland within a week or 10 days.
Stationed in the Philippines before Pearl Harbor, he was captured by the Japanese and listed as a civilian prisoner. Presumably he exchanged his army uniform for civilian clothing prior to his capture.
