ALGONA SAILOR MAKES TRIP AROUND WORLD

After seven months at sea and during which time he encircled the globe, Arden Orton, seaman first class, U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Orton, city, arrived in Algona last Thursday for a visit with his parents and Algona friends. His leave extends til December 27th. Arden enlisted in the Navy over a year ago and has had but one leave, about nine months since, until the present. His experiences have been many and varied on the many seas and in the many ports during his ship’s travel around the earth. He has seen many countries, had many thrilling experiences during the extended travels of the fleet with which his ship is connected. And he is perhaps the first and only Algonian who has traveled around mother earth. Arden is 20 years of age, and has a brother, Webster, 18, who is stationed at Farragut, Idaho, while another brother, Donald, is stationed in England with the Air Corps.

Orton-Clark Wedding
Held at Emmetsburg
Algona—Arden Orton, S 2/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Orton, and Joy Clark of Emmetsburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Clark, were married April 14, in the Methodist church at Emmetsburg.
Harold Carlson of Wesley and Bulie Orton, sister of the bridegroom, were the attendants.
Seaman Orton had a short leave and he and Mrs. Orton left Saturday for New York City, which is his home port. She will remain with him for a while, later returning to Emmetsburg. He received his leave on arriving from a convoy trip to Italy. His last 7 months previous had taken him around the world.
