IN UNIFORM
Sgt. Thomas R. Lacugnato, a member of an engineer combat battalion, has been awarded the presidential citation, according to word received by his sister, Mrs. Mary Sammin, 710 W. 16th street. The citation was for outstanding heroism, courage and skill of members of the battalion while contributing to the successful establishment of a beachhead on D-day. Sgt. Lacugnato, a former Central high pupil, entered the service February 25, 1942. Overseas since December, 1943, he now is stationed in Belgium.
