Marvin L. Granstrom, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Granstrom, 1521 Court street, was graduated from the marine corps officers' candidate school, Quantico, Va., August 25 and commissioned a second lieutenant. He has been assigned to the reserve officers school at Quantico, and will undergo three months of training in combat tactics before being assigned to a combat unit.

First Lt. Marvin L, Granstrum of the marine corps was promoted to that rank in Zamboanga, Philippine islands. A radio and communications officer in the Wake Island Avenger squadron of the First marine air wing, Lt. Granstrom went overseas last December and has served on Leyte and Mindanao. His wife, Ruth, resides in Sioux Falls. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Granstrom, 1521 Court street.
