Sgt. “Hinie” Faller Awarded Air Medal, Oak Leaf Cluster
T. Sgt. Henry (“Hinie”) D. Faller, former radio operator on a B-24 and a prisoner of the Germans since June 23, 1944, has been awarded the air medal and oak leaf cluster for bravery in action, his mother, Mrs. Katherine Faller, 815 S. Helen street, has learned. The medal, which was received by Faller for participation in several aerial missions over enemy occupied Europe, has been presented to his wife, Mrs. Arnella Faller, of Hinsdale, Ill. His family recently saw a photo of T. Sgt. Faller in a prisoner of war film shown by the Paramount newsreel. A brother, Cpl. Lawrence J. Faller, stationed in Italy since October, also was awarded the purple heart recently.
