Former DHIA Tester
Killed in Germany
La Porte City, Ia. – Lt. James F. Emerson, one time tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement association, south of La Porte City, was killed Oct. 2 in Germany, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Emerson of Volga City, were notified.
Emerson had previously been reported missing in action after the Liberator bomber he piloted was seen doing down during a raid over Germany. It was thought he might be a prisoner for some time.
He had completed his required number of missions with the air force and had planned on returned home last fall. He volunteered, however, for an extra mission, and on that mission was killed.
His wife, the former Sheila Roche, to whom he was married last August in London, is with her parents in that city.
