First Lieut. Roy Ellis-Brown, a native of Sioux City, now of Hamilton, Mass., has been invested with the British distinguished flying cross, according to a news release from Buckingham Palace, London, Eng. Lieut. Ellis-Brown was awarded this decoration for extraordinary achievement in combat when he piloted Sterling and Lancaster bombers in 54 raids over nazi Europe. While a Yank in the R. A. F., Lieut. Ellis-Brown was one of the first Americans to participate in the bombing of Berlin. Last year he transferred to the United States Army air forces and was commissioned a first lieutenant. He is now a pilot in an air transport squadron of the ferry and transport service, flying giant Liberator cargo ships. Present at the decoration and ceremony was his English wife, the former Pamela de Gray.
