SIOUX CITYAN DIES OF WOUNDS
Pfc. Robert Edwards Was With Gen. Patton’s Third Army
Fighting with an infantry unit of Gen. Patton’s Third army, Pfc. Robert W. Edwards, 25-year-old Sioux Cityan, died December 17 of wounds suffered in Germany, his widow, the former Shirley Plummer of Eau Claire, Wis., was informed Sunday.
The soldier entered the service in February of 1942, and was stationed first at Camp Barkley, Tex. He had been overseas about a year. He was born in Magnolia, Ia., December 14, 1919. He had resided here about five years. He was employed by the Cudahy Packing company.
Surviving in addition to the widow are a son, Timmy, 2; six brothers, Joe of Harlan, Ia.; John, Arlus and Phillip, all with the armed forces; Ralph and Ira, both of Magnolia; two sisters, Mrs. C. J. Hodges of Sioux City, and Miss Eunice of Magnolia; and also the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy W. Edwards, also of Magnolia.

Memorial Rites for Pfc. Edwards Will Be Sunday
Memorial services for Pfc. Robert W. Edwards, 25, who died December 17 of wounds suffered in Germany, will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3225 Sixth avenue.
Monahan post will furnish a color guard. Rev. Allan M. McColl, pastor, will officiate. The 23d Psalm will be sung by Tom Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Millard Jett will sing a duet.
Pfc. Edwards, formerly employed by the Cudahy Packing company, entered the service in February 1942, and was stationed first at Camp Barkley, Tex. He had been overseas about a year fighting with an infantry unit of Gen. Patton’s Third Army.

Robert Ward Edwards was born Dec. 14, 1919 to Guy W. and Miranda J. Alden Edwards. He died Dec. 17, 1944 and is buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, IA.
