Alphonse M. Brienzo, technician fourth class, whose home address is 1014 River drive, has received his discharge from the Army at Camp Cooke, Cal. He was a member of the 13th armored division (Black Cat), which fought under Gen. George S. Patton in Germany. The Black Cat tankmen captured more than 20,000 German prisoners in the fighting in the Ruhr and took an additional 19,000 during its spreadhead drive through Bavaria and Austria. In the closing days of the war, the 13th division captured Hitler's birthplace city, Braunau, Austria, and liberated 14,000 allied prisoners of war.
