IN UNIFORM
First Lt. Homer W. Bennett, whose mother, Mrs. Ethel Bennett, resides at 1401 Harris street, had an interesting experience with the enemy recently. While on a reconnaissance over enemy territory, he was attacked by fighter planes. He quickly maneuvered his plane so as to bring the enemy planes over the air force batteries in the vicinity. His maneuvering was successful to the extent that air force fire destroyed four planes. Lt. Bennett was directly responsible for the loss of several other enemy planes.

Second Lt. Homer W. Bennett, 1401 Harris street, pilot of a Piper Cub observation plane for the Second Division artillery in Belgium, found himself at one time the object target of eight enemy FW-190 planes. By clever maneuvering, Lt. Bennett evaded the pursuers and one of the FW pilots, miscalculating his drive, crashed to the ground. Antiaircraft fire accounted for another and a third fell victim to P-47s which suddenly appeared on the scene.
