Allen Porter “Port” Kellogg was born Nov. 25, 1921 to John Thomas and Inez Newton Kellogg. He died Mar. 12, 2002 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City, IA.

Port served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 532nd Bomb Squadron, 381st Bomb Group as a radio operator and gunner. He was wounded when his plane was shot down and became a POW in Austria. He was awarded the European African and Middle Eastern ribbon with one Bronze Star, four overseas bars, Purple Heart, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Air Crew Badge. After his discharge he became active in POW organizations and started the NC Iowa American POW group.
