Welcome to the Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery Page. This document summarizes data for 394 graves and is mainly based on a partial photo survey conducted by Bill Waters in April of 2009. This survey resulted in 259 IGPP records. This IGPP data was supplemented by information found in WPA database (175 Records), and the ongoing IAGenWeb Obituaries (68 Records). These tables incorporate pointers to 19 photos of the deceased. The left columns of the tabulation indicate the source of the summary data GPP (G), WPA(W) and Obits (O). A camera Icon indicates that either a GPP record or an Obituary, or both display a photo of the deceased. Note that some records have more than one source; this is because in many cases the information is redundant. If there is a disagreement, your County Coordinator has used his best judgment about which information to include in the compilation. This summary contains a wealth of information that was made available by volunteers taking pictures and transcribing data. Those volunteers are to be applauded, keep up the good work! [coordinator's note: The numbers in this summary may appear to not "add up", this is mainly due to the fact that IGPP database contains two records for 43 married women, one with their maiden name and one with their married name.
Connie Street is the past Winneshiek County IAGenWeb coordinator. While Connie was coordinator she uploaded over 650 pictures to the GPP project database. Thank you Connie, and the many others who have taken the time to share their cemetery pictures with us, now we can all take a virtual cemetery tour via the internet. Connie's pictures included one for the Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery entrance. This is what Connie wrote about the Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery. " A plaque says "Norske Evangelisk Lutersk Kirke 1872-1914" Another plaque says "On this site stood two church buildings of the Lincoln Lutheran Congregation. The first building (1873-1914) was removed to make room for the second. The second (1914-1968) was destroyed by fire on June 9, 1968. The congregation merged with the Ridgeway Lutheran Congregation to form Peace Lutheran Church in the town of Ridgeway on Jan. 1, 1969." The congregation was served by the following pastors: Nils Brandt 1851-1852 and 1863-1882; U.V. Koren 1853-1863; Einar Wulfsberg 1882-1891; N.P. Xavier 1891-1904; Thomas Nilsson 1904-1913; D.C. Jordahl 1913-1935; M.B. Quill 1935-1953; O.S. Hoven 1954-1959; Peter Swiggum 1960-1968."
