I am looking for my relatives who lived in the Ossian area. My
families are Larson, Lars and Inga Marie imm 1868, and daughers
Ann, Karen, Olava, Ida and son Christian. Olava imm in 1872.
Karen married Enoch Tobias Berkland (also on census as Enoch
Tobiason). They moved to Lyons county by 1875. Olava married Ole
Malaas (or Melus or Malas) and they left Iowa prior to 1880. Ann
married Hans Nelson in 1873.
My other family is the Nelson/Harrum side. Lars Harrum is an unknown to me, but I am pretty sure he was in Iowa for a time. Ole Nelson Kragero (also shown as Ole P Nelson) imm in 1863 and lived by Ossian til the late 1870s. Hans C. Nelson (Nilson) imm in 1865. Ida Sophia Nelson imm in 1865 with her mother Maren. These are all siblings, but they have a lot of different names.

I'm researching the DUFF family...they located to Winneshiek Co.
(Frankville/Bloomfield townships area) in 1850. Would like to
connect with any other DUFF descendants I haven't yet connected
with, to compare notes! One line I'd like to fill in some details
on...the descendants of Elsie Florence DUFF (1883-1951) who
married George Franklin ALLEN (1873-1961). Also would like to
connect with descendants of Rebecca Catherine "Kate"
DUFF (1859-1909) who married Arthur C. BAUMWART (1860- 1930);
they moved to Oklahoma in 1900 after residing in Little Turkey,
Chicasaw Co., IA for about 13 years (having located there from
Winneshiek Co.)

Seeking information of Jedidiah MILLER, born 1814 probably in
Steuben Co., NY; settled probably about 1860 or shortly
thereafter in Winneshiek Co. His wife was Caroline CHAMBERLAIN.
Both are buried in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah. Were there other
MILLER relatives who came with them? Caroline's mother or
step-mother, Sarah CHAMBERLAIN or Sarah PLACE may have lived with
them and buried in area.

I'm interested in corresponding with any DUFF or JOHNSON
descendants. The DUFFs settled in the Bloomfield and Frankville
townships area in 1850/51. Of the numerous Winneshiek Co. JOHNSON
families, the family of my interest had immigrated to North
America from *Ireland*; they too, settled in the south- east
portion of Winneshiek Co., but arrived somewhat later than the
DUFFs. Both families were in Canada prior to relocating to Iowa
and there was quite a little bunch of folks who were interrelated
by marriages and/or co-located in Canada, who relocated to this
area in Iowa...if anyone has or knows of any diaries or accounts
involving this migration, PLEASE let me know about it!!

After 1870 census one Rachel (SCOTT) COUNTRYMAN died. Her
daughter, Phebe Jane (COUNTRYMAN) COUNTRYMAN is buried at
Frankville with a memorial to Luke TODD, her husband. Rachel
(SCOTT) COUNTRYMAN was wife of Cornelius COUNTRYMAN, who was
enumerated with the TODD family in 1880 as a widower. It may be
that Rachel was buried at Frankville. The family left the area of
Sullivan Co., NY in the 1850s and lived in Iowa Co., WI for
several years. Cornelius COUNTRYMAN was buried later in SD. Also
needed is information on HUSTED families; and CC had a dau. named
Sarah md to HUSTED. Help--Resp., Vern in FL

I would like to correspond with descendants of John J. DREW and
Bridget CAROLAN (or descendants of other Carolans who lived near
Bluffton, IA). He was the son of James Drew (1819-1894) and
Catherine O'MALLEY (b. 1834). Bridget was the daughter of John
Carolan and Johanna CASEY. I descend from Bridget DONAHUE McMAHON
who was born in Stradone, Co. Cavan, Ireland, and who was a
cousin to Bridget CAROLAN DREW but I do not know the
relationship. It is likely that this relationship derives from a
marriage that took place in Ireland.

BUTLER : Lonson Butler with wife and four children appear in the
federal census of 1860 living in Decorah township, Winneshiek Co.
They sold their farm 17 Oct. 1862.I can not trace them further.
By 1970 the oldest son, Peter Butler, my grandfather was living
with a Bisby family in Hesper Twn. and there was also an Andrew
Bailey, farmer, living in the, same twn. Lonson must have died
since his widow married an Andrew Bailey.I would like to find out
when and where Lonson died, and any details of his death. Also
when Anna his widow married Andrew Bailey. These events must have
occurred between 1862 and 1870. same twn.

I am looking for information on the John Rhodes HOWARD family
that lived in Ossian, circa 1855-1863. Children, Andrew J., Nancy
J., possibly married Judson Dean, Mary S., Elias George, and
Rachel. I believe these children were by first wife Alvina Ann
Marsh and were born in PA as was she. John was born Andover VT.
1856 State Census shows my g-grandmother living with them but I
believe she was a ward. She married Jacob Cline Mattocks, 1867 in
Fayette Co. John's second wife Lucinda H. Weldon seems to be the
mother of Jay W., and James Solomon born in Ossian. I believe
that my g-grandmother Lovina Abigail HOWARD, might have been the
daughter of John's brother possibly named Solomon. What family
records there are say that she was born in Forest City, IA in
1852, we have no idea what her mother's name was. Any information
or leads as to who to contact will be gratefully appreciated.
