Thompson, IA - Carrol Fisher, in the US navy stationed at the Great Lakes training school, is here on a nine day furlough to visit his family and mother, Mrs. Forest Fisher.

Carroll Fisher, Fireman 2/C, was Thompson's first casualty. He gave his life when his ship was torpedoed in mid Atlantic on Feb. 7, 1943. He was 29 years old. Survived by his wife and daughter and his mother, Mrs. Emma Fisher.
