Ambrose, Lois Louise
Reynolds-
Mrs. Reldon (Lois) Ambrose, 46, died at Rosary Hospital in
Corning, Tuesday morning, May 3 after a long illness. Funeral services are
planned for Thursday
at 2
p m, at the Methodist Church, the Rev. Clements officiating.
Mrs Ambrose leaves her husband; three children, Judy, Nancy and Mark, all of the
home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chase Reynolds of Prescott, and three brothers.
She
was a member of the Methodist Church and Legion Auxiliary, had served as a Den
Mother of Cub Scouts and 4-H leader.
Friends
are contributing to a memorial fund instead of flowers. Donations may be left
at Bender Funeral Home.
Three
aunts of Mrs. Ambrose have arrived to be with the family, two from Texas and
one from Arkansas. Mrs. Rufus Mills and daughter Jody of Arkansas will be
remembered here as former residents.

Lois Louise Reynolds -
Lois
Louise, the daughter, of Charles M. and Florence Reynolds, was born January 11,
1920 at Brentwood, Ark. She died at the Rosary Hospital May 3, 1966, at the age
of 46 years, 3 months and 22 days.
She
moved to Iowa in 1924 with her parents, attended the Corning schools and has
lived in the Lenox and Corning Area since that time.
She
married Reldon Ambrose, February 2, 1952 at Creston.
To this union two children were born, Nancy Kaye and Mark Reldon.
At her marriage she became the mother of Reldon's daughter, Judy Marie.
She
was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Florence Reynolds, her grandparents
and by Judy's mother, Leota Ambrose.
Those
left to cherish her memory are: her husband Reldon,
her two daughters Judy Marie and Nancy Kaye, and her son Mark Reldon; her father and
stepmother,
Charlie and Martha Reynolds; three brothers, Robert K. Reynolds of Monrovia,
Calif., James W. Reynolds of Des Moines, and Dale E. Reynolds
of
Denver, Colo.; her step-brothers Kenneth Kerns of Dayton, Ohio, Darrell Kerns
of West Des Moines, and her step-sister, Mrs. Greta Adams of West Des
Moines;
her mother-in-law, Mrs. Lizzie Ambrose, two brothers-in-law, Karl Ambrose and
Jasper Ambrose of Lenox, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lucille Davis of
Omaha, Nebr; by Judy's uncles and aunts, Delmar Haley of
Nodaway, Mrs. Fern Mitchell of Parnell, Mo., Mrs. Ester Travis of Corning, Mrs.
Doris Pashek of
Nevinville, Cavin Haley of Nodaway, James Haley of Nodaway, Mrs.
Darlene Palmar of Brooks, and a host of other
relatives and friends.
Mrs.
Ambrose was a member of the Lenox Methodist church where she taught in the
Sunday School. She has been a 4-H club leader and a Den Mother to Cub
Scout
Den No. 2. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She
took pride in her home, garden and flowers. Her deepest devotion was to her
children and family, but she found time and was interested in helping others.
She
had been gravely ill since surgery February 19, 1965. She made a gallant fight
to regain her health. Her faith and fortitude have been an inspiration
to
those who knew her and loved her best.
Her
funeral was May 5 at the Lenox Methodist Church, the Rev. A. J. Clements
officiating with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Funeral
services were Monday May 23 at the Lenox Methodist Church for Mabel Baker, who
died at the rest home May 20. Rev. A. J. Clements officiated
at
the service and interment which was in Clearfield cemetery.
Hannah
Mabel Baker, youngest daughter of Benjamin R and Sarah Farnham Sargent, was born Feb 7, 1876 in Taylor County, west
of Clearfield and passed away May 20, 1966 in the Lenox Rest Home at the age of
90 years, 3 months and 13 days.
As a
child, she lived on a farm near Clearfield and part time in Nebraska with
relatives, later teaching school in Nebraska.
She
was united in marriage to Frank Baker Sept. 4, 1895 and lived on a farm
northeast of Clearfield until the death of her husband in 1958. She then made
her home with her daughter, Bessie, in Lenox.
To
this union were born 5 children; one son, Ernest of Clearfield and four
daughters Fanny Koch, Bessie Bennett and Pearl Beck of Lenox and Laura who
preceded her in death at the age of 22 years.
She
was united with the Methodist Church at an early age, transferred her
membership to the Calvary Methodist Church after she was married, then to the
Lenox Methodist Church in 1959. She loved the church and it was a highlight in
her life. She helped in church activities all she could as long as she was
able.
She
was preceded in death by her mother, father and husband; 4 sisters, 9 brothers
and one daughter.
Left
to remember her are the 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 39 great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She
was a kind and loving mother and a friend to all who knew her.

John
R. Bruner died at his home at North Hollywood, Calif., Sunday afternoon. He was
born near Clearfield but had lived in California for many years.
He
is survived by his widow, the former Mildred Bender; a daughter, Betsy of Arlita, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. Bernice Wiley of Creston,
Mrs. Maretta Abarr,
Mrs.
Alice Whitmore, Mrs. Mildred Matthews and Mrs. Helen Lyddon of Clearfield, and Mrs. Ruth Sundell of Conway; and a
brother, Fred Bruner of Conway.
Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Bruner, Mrs. Bernice Wiley and Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Bender of Lenox left Monday to attend the funeral services in California.

John Roland -
John
Roland Bruner, son of Blanche and Daniel Bruner, was born on a farm near
Clearfield, Iowa on September 21, 1905 and passed away at his home in
North
Hollywood, California on June 5, 1966.
On
July 5, 1931 he was united in marriage to Mildred Bender of Clearfield. To this
union was born one daughter, Betty Jean.
He
leaves to mourn his passing, his wife; Mildred; his daughter Betty Jean;
son-in-law, Bill Scott; two grandchildren, Judith Ann and William Sewell Scott
of California; a brother, Fred Bruner and wife, Ava; six sisters, Bernice
Wiley, Marietta Abarr; Alice, wife of Lester
Whitmore; Ruth, wife of Karl Sundell; Mildred, wife
of Kenneth Matthews; and Helen, wife of Daryl Lyddon;
a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rollie and Marcia
Bender all of Iowa; a sister-in-law, Wilma Espinoza and a brother-in-law,
Marvin Bender of North Hollywood, and many nieces, nephews, friends and
neighbors.
He
was a good Christian and a member of the Methodist Church.
Services
were conducted by the Reverend William J. Bomer of Torrence, California. Mildred had served as his baby-sitter
when they lived in Iowa. The
services
were at the Church of the Hills with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial
Park-Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.

Funeral
services were held Sunday afternoon, May 15, at the Sharpsburg United
Presbyterian Church for Arthur A. Caven, 66, with
burial in the Lenox cemetery.
Rev.
James E. Eddy, minister of the church, officiated at the services.
Arthur
Alfred Caven, son of Alfred and Lula Van Houghten Caven, was born on
October 9, 1899 at Prescott, Iowa, and died on May 11, 1966 at the Veterans
Hospital
in Omaha, Nebr.
On,
July 2, 1919 he was married to Mary Edna Boyer. To this union there was born
one daughter, Maxine. He lived and worked around the Sharpsburg and Conway area
during his lifetime.
Survivors
include his wife, Mary E.; daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Maxine) Christensen of Creston,
granddaughter, Mrs. Edgar (Nioma) Deweese of Creston, great-grandson, Bobby Allan Deweese;
son-in-law, Lyle Christensen, Creston, and one brother, Verne Caven of Bedford.
He
was a member of the Parkinson American Legion Post in Lenox and the United
Presbyterian Church in Sharpsburg.

Mrs Clifton (Myrtle) Clement of Guss, 73, passed away
Sunday morning, June 5th after a critical illness of two weeks there. She had
been in failing health the past 6
months.
Surviving
are her husband of Guss, a daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Max Winslow of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Dennis and Becky
Winslow of Lincoln, and Ronald Winslow of Clarinda, who has spent most of his
life in her home; also a sister, Mrs.
Dewey Peterson, Red Oak and a brother, Leslie Bycroft of Lenox, besides a
number
of nieces and nephews.
Services
were at the Guss church Tuesday afternoon with burial
in Guss cemetery.

Clarence
Downey, 77, of Bedford, a brother-in-law of Mannie Johnston, died May 2, with funeral services held May 4. His wife, Emma,
survives. Mr and
Mrs Mannie Johnston of Lenox and their children, Bernard
Johnston of Council Bluffs, Kermit Johnston of Shenandoah and Alma Smith of
Lenox, were
among
those who attended the services.

Mamie
Copeland Hill, daughter of Edward and Lucy Copeland, was born August 13, 1878
near Mason City, Illinois and passed away May 22, 1966 at Corning, Iowa at the
age of 87 years, 9 months and 9 days.
In
1882 she moved with her parents to a farm 4 miles west of Lenox.
She
was united in marriage to Otto J. Hill on March 4, 1902, and to this union two
sons were born, Roy H, of Creston and Walter O. of Prescott.
They
spent most of their lives west of Lenox until 1939 when they moved to the
Corning vicinity.
She
is survived by her two sons, Roy and Walter; two daughters-in-law, Florence and
June; three grandchildren, Marjorie Hill Lewis of Chicago, Jack
Hill
and Carolyn Hill Curtis of Corning; two great granddaughters, Tresa Lynn Curtis and Mickle Kay
Hill; a foster son Leo DeyErmand and wife Ruth of
Grand Island, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. Mazie Tully of
Lenox and Mrs. Nona Potts of Montezuma.
She
was preceded in death by her husband on February 22, 1957 and by three
brothers: Charles, Lewis and Edward. She was a loving and devoted mother to her
family and home.
She
joined the Lenox Christian Church early in life and later transferred to the
Corning Christian Church.
Funeral
services were held May 25 at 2:00 p.m. from the Corning Christian Church.
Services were in charge of Rev. Donald V. Briley.
Interment was at Lenox cemetery. Music was by Mrs. Ruth Tranberger and Miss Twila Briley.
Pallbearers were Lee Hill, Donald Tully, Martin Miller, Marion Davis, Merle
Jackson and Rex Badgett.

Services
were held at Bender Funeral Home Sunday, June 5, for Lawrence Holland, 55, of
Lenox, who died in Rosary Hospital Friday morning. Rev. David
A. Shaeffer officiated at the service, with burial in Lenox
cemetery.
Lawrence
Eldon Holland, son of George and Myrtle Holland, was born June 13, 1910, at New
Market, and passed away June 3, 1966, at the age of 55 years,
11
months and 20 days.
He
was a member of the Christian Church at Lenox. His schooling was completed at
Lenox high school. He grew up and spent most of his life in southwest Iowa.
During the war he was employed at an aviation defense plant in Kansas City, Mo.
He worked 8 years in Grove, Wisc. The last 12 years
he lived here with his father in Lenox.
Sept.
15, 1936, he was married to Vida Bernice Beckett. They were parents of 5
children, a daughter, Mrs. Loren Bolinger of Conway;
four sons, Donald, Richard, Walter and Jimmy whose addresses are unknown. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors
include his father, George, stepmother, Nellie of Lenox, a brother, Wilber of
Des Moines, his five children, three known grandchildren, several
nieces
and nephews.
Bearers
at the funeral were Junior, Weldon and Robert Bolinger,
and Floyd, Walter and Wilbur Johnson.

Frank Lieehti of Canonsburg, Pa., died Tuesday morning of
last week after a short illness. He was the father of Mrs. R. D. (Selma) Boyer.
She left to attend
the
funeral, which was to be Friday.
He
leaves his widow, a son, the daughter, Mrs. Boyer, and four grandchildren.

Mrs.
Wayne Moore of San Diego, Calif:, about 50 years of
age, died there May 9 after an illness of several months. Rites were to be held
there May 11,
with
the body returned to the Roland Funeral Home in Corning for a service and
burial in the Prairie Rose cemetery.
The
deceased was the former Rose Emma Manroe, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Manroe, formerly of Lenox; and now
of San Diego. She was a graduate
of
Lenox high school. She leaves her husband, a son, Wayne Dale, a grandson, her parents,
and three brothers, all of the San Diego area.

John
Paul Norton, 67, Hopkins, died suddenly at 3:30 p.m. Thursday May 19, while he
and his wife were visiting at the home of Mrs Norton's sister, Mrs Fern Lambley,
in Conway, Ia. He had been a resident of
the Hopkins community the past 20 years.
He
was born Oct. 7, 1898, near Bedford, Ia., and was the son of the late Samuel H.
and Mary E. Wood Norton. He was married May 28, 1928, in Clarinda,
la.,
to Miss Pauline Beal, who survives. He
was a retired automobile mechanic and was a member of the Christian Church,
Conway, Ia.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the Swanson's Funeral Home,
Hopkins, the Rev Gerald Sappington officiating. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery, east of Bedford.
Besides
his wife, of the home, he is survived by one son, Jim J. Norton, stationed with
the Navy in Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. William Sawyer,
Lenox,
la.; two brothers, George Norton, Conway, la., and Dave Norton, Thayer, la.; a
sister, Mrs. Helen Glover, Clarinda, la.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Ina Healy,
Grand
River, la., and Mrs. Mary Winslow, Clearfield, Ia., and three grandchildren.

Mr Harry Riley, a farmer living near Corydon, passed away at the Wayne Co Hospital
there Thursday after a long illness. Mr Riley had many friends among the farmers of this
community, as he was the weighman at the Lenox Auction
for fifteen years until his illness forced him to retire.
He
is survived by his widow; a son, Kenneth Riley, two grandsons, Dale and Bill
Riley, two great granddaughters, Lynda and Karen Riley, all of Lenox.
The
funeral and burial were Saturday at Corydon.

Perry Swartz, 83, a retired Broadview, Mont farmer, passed away in a Billings
hospital Feb 21, 1966. He was born in Bolckow, Mo,,
Nov 28, 1882,
son
of Mr and Mrs Francis P
Swartz and moved to Iowa when he was 16. He married Lottie Belle Alexander on
Feb 16, 1905 in Lenox.
They
moved to the Broadview area in 1915. Mrs Swartz
passed away Aug 10, 1956.
Survivors
include two sons, Perry Dale and Gordon Roy of Broadview; three daughters, Mrs Kula Gwin, Mrs Leona Owen, and Mrs Dorothy
Rush all of
Billings;
four brothers, George of Lenox, Claude of Gravity, Roland of Corning, and Floyd
of Billings; and one sister, Mrs Zola Davis of
Billings, also
29 grandchildren
and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral
services were Feb 25 in Smith's Chapel by the Rev Roland Strutz,
pastor of the Pioneer EUB Church of Broadview. Burial was at Mountainview cemetery
George
and Eugene Swartz, both of Lenox, went to Billings to attend the services for Mr Swartz.

Miss
Fern E. Wilson, Roosevelt Junior high school counselor, in Mason City, died Thursday
morning, April 21st in a hospital in that city. She had been
a
teacher in Mason City for many years and made her home at 113 N. Connecticut.
Miss
Wilson was born at Clearfield, daughter of David and Sabilla Wilson. She was graduated from Clearfield High School, attended Simpson College
at
Indianola and Drake University, Des Moines, where she received B.A. and M.A.
degrees.
She
taught first in Mason City as a science teacher and then was a guidance
counselor. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega social sorority and Delta
Kappa
Gamma professional teachers sorority. She was a member of the United
Presbyterian Church at Lenox.
Her
past professional activities included president of the Junior High School
Association, president of the Mason City Education Association, president,
chairman
of the executive board and National Education Association (NBA) director for
the North Central District of the Iowa State Education Assn.
(1SEA).
She was a life member of the NBA and ISEA, and had been on the NEA committee on
juvenile delinquency and took part in the classroom teacher conference
in
Washington, D.C., on juvenile delinquency.
Her
non-professional activities included the presidency of the Council of Social
Agencies of Mason City, and she had been a member of the American Association
of
University Women. She won a number of golf championships, she held membership
in the Hole-in-One Club, having won that in the Women's State Golf Tournament
in Des Moines in 1929. She was an enthusiastic supporter of all school sports
at Roosevelt. At one time she coached the boys basketball team, which won the
city
championship.
Surviving
are three sisters, Mrs. J. R. Fling, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. C. J. Everett,
Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. E. V. Goodale, Lenox.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
The
funeral was at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Major Memorial Chapel. Dr. Walter J. Kalvesmaki, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church,
officiated.
Burial
was in the Clearfield Cemetery. A service was also held here Saturday at
Bender's, the Rev. James Eddy officiating.

Services
were held at the Bender Funeral Home Friday, April 22, 1966, for Richard A.
Wilson, 61, who died at his home here
Tuesday. The Rev. A J Clements officiated at the service with burial in
Fairview Cemetery.
Richard
Arthur, the son of Alva A. and Bessie Mae Wilson, was born July 30, 1904 at St.
Joseph. He was married to Mammie Kimber July 12, 1927 at Troy, Kan. Just recently they moved to Lenox from Benton,
where he had been custodian of the school for about 9 years.
He
was baptized in the German Lutheran Church and during his residence at Benton
attended the Maloy Community Church.
Those
left to cherish his memory are his wife Mammie; a son
Richard Allen; his daughters, Mrs. William Barklage of Eureka, Mo., Mrs. Hazel DiRisio of Lenox, Mrs.
William Tridle of Orient, and Mrs. Robert Matthews of
Lenox; 3 brothers, Fred of San Francisco, Cal., Paul of St. Joseph, and Alva of
Clovis, N. M., 2 sisters, Mrs. Anna Warwick of Clovis, Mrs. Kathryn Hecker of Robinson, Kan., 17 grandchildren and many other
relatives and friends.
Mr.
Wilson was a plain and simple man whose chief interest and concern was his family.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather
His
religious convictions were firm and though not an attendant of church in recent
years, he listened regularly to the radio sermons and services.
