Mr. Gant died at his home June 5, 1964. Interment was in Siam cemetery, Siam, Ia. Orval Gant, son of Charles [Newton] Gant and Florence [Idell] Goodrich Gant, was born in Mason Township Jan. 25, 1912. He received his elementary education in the North Star school and was graduated from New Market High School in 1930. On Feb. 14, 1938 he was married to Naomi Clayton of Siam and they immediately established their present home. To this couple three children were born, Roger [Allen] who is serving with the army in Germany, Mrs. David (Karlolyn) Hughes of New Market; Mrs. Clark (Lorene) Davison of Clarinda. Mr. Gant was very active in the Christian Church of Siam of which he was a life long member. He is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters, one grandson, four sisters, Mrs. Wilber (Mabel) Carmichael of Clarinda, Mrs. Lawrence (Mary) Allison of Calif., Mrs. John (Alma) Bix and Mrs. Ernest (Ethel) Gray of Bedford Bedford Free Press Thursday August 12, 1926 p. 6 Obituary—Lena Huntsman Lena White was born March 20, 1868, in Warren County, Illinois, and departed this life at Iowa City hospital August 4, 1926. She was married to William Huntsman May 22, 1884. To this union were born eight children, five of whom are still living: Ora and Suriida Huntsman, of Bedford, Iowa; Dow Huntsman, Alice Baker and Goldie Morehouse, of Hopkins, Mo. She also leaves to mourn her loss nine grand children, one great grand child, a brother Joe White of Blanchard, Iowa, and a sister, Margery Cummings, of Enid, Oklahoma. She united with the Methodist church at Siam in early life, and lived a faithful Christian life. She had been a patient sufferer for the past three years, unable to walk for over a year. The funeral was held at the Siam Methodist church August 7,
1926, conducted by Rev. G. T. Roberts, and the body was laid to rest in the
cemetery at Siam. She was born Aug. 11, 1890 in Burlington Jct., MO, the daughter of Riley and Rose Loan Smith. On Feb. 22, 1944 she was married to Coy Jeffers. She is survived by her husband; two sons Orville Manley of Bedford and Wilbur Manley of Freeman, Mo; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Wanda) Updike of Clarinda; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Aug. 7, 1984, at the Siam Christian Church with burial in the Siam cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Thursday March 3, 1988 Jeffers, 96, farmed in Siam area Coy [Edward] Jeffers, 96, of Clarinda, formerly of the Siam area, died Monday, Feb. 29, 1988, at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital where he had been the past week. He was born in Wisconsin on April 27, 1892. His parents were [James] Edward and [Maggie] Belle Jeffers. For many years he sold grain and feed and later farmed in the Siam area. He was married [Stella] Blanche Smith Manley. They lived together in the Siam area. She passed away Aug. 4, 1984 and shortly after he moved to Clarinda. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Wanda) Updike, of Clarinda; a stepson, Wilbur Manley of Freeman, Mo; two grandchildren, several great grandchildren; three step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and one sister, Clara Miller of Clarinda. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Blanche; a son, Robert [Edward] Jeffers; a stepson Orville Manley; six brothers and one sister. Services were at 10 a. m. Blanche [Pauline] Fine Jobe, daughter of Perry Fine and Rachael Rousch [Roush] Fine, was born November 25, 1903 near Siam, Taylor County Iowa. She grew to maturity in the area where she was born where she attended the public school and the Methodist Church. On January 5, 1924 she was united in marriage to Conlin Jobe who preceded her in death in 1977. They lived in Siam until moving to New Market, Iowa 20 years ago. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three children: Floyd Jobe of New Market, Iowa; Evelyn Villines of Des Moines, Iowa and Ronald Jobe of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Ruby Renfro of New Market, Iowa, Elza Fine of Bedford, Lydia Wynn of Santa Barbara, California and Inez Horner of Des Moines, Iowa; other relatives and many friends. Blanche will be remembered for her loving devotion to her husband and children. Her grandchildren brought a special kind of joy and pride to her. In recent years her great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She loved to have company and will be missed by many kind and wonderful people both neighbors and friends who called on her almost every day. Monday July 4, 1988 Larabee, 77 was former Coin resident Iva Pearl Larabee, 77 died at her home in Lincoln, Ne, June 28 1988. She was a former Coin resident. She was married Edward [Franklin] Larabee March 5, 1930. They had eight children. Surviving are two sons, Darrell and Dennis Larabee, three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Phyllis) Shields, Mrs. Larry (Lois) Barr, and Myrtle Triplett, all from Lincoln; 26 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oct. 14, 1979. Others preceding her in death were two sons, William and Kenneth [Dale]; daughter, Shirley; granddaughter, Wanda Larabee; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Currier, brother, Warren Currier, and sister, Coral Baker. Funeral services were held July 1 at Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Galen Skinner officiating. Graveside services and interment were at Siam Cemetery near New Market.

Delbert Madison, age 75 of Siam, Iowa died Friday at the Clarinda Regional Health Center in Clarinda, Iowa. Delbert was born on January 21, 1924 at Dallas, South Dakota. His parents were Arthur and Laura (Sullivan) Madison. Delbert was married to Ruby Lynn on May 10, 1946 at Reno, NV. He was a veteran of the Navy and served during W.W. II. Delbert had farmed, broke horses and also did shoeing of horses; he had worked on the wards at M.H.I, and worked for the Taylor County A.S.C.S. Survivors include four children, daughter Joyce and husband Larry Newman of Clarinda; sons Arthur and wife Julie Madison of Clarinda, Dennis and Beverly Madison of Lincoln, NE and David Madison of Clarinda. There are 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Stickley of Salem, OR also survives. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Ruby in 1980 and two brothers, Lawrence and Robert and five sisters, Lottie, Gertie, Loraine, Louise and Opal. Loren Daly. Mrs. Madison died April 2, 1980 in her home. Interment was at Siam Cemetery, Siam, Iowa. Ruby Lynn Madison, daughter of Maude [Melinda Yeager] and Calvin [Matthew] Lynn, was born in Stuart, Oklahoma, March 30, 1926. She lived in Texas and Oklahoma and grew to maturity in California where she attended the public school and Church of Christ. On May 10, 1945 she was united in marriage to Delbert Madison at Reno, Nevada, and they lived in southwest Iowa. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Joyce Newman, Clarinda; Arthur Madison, New Market; Dennis Madison, Roca, Nebraska; and David Madison, New Market. She was a member of H.C. Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Calvin. Left to cherish her memory are: her husband Delbert; four children, Joyce and husband Larry, Arthur, Dennis and wife Susan, and David and wife Gloria; five grandchildren: Traci, Jody, and Brian Newman, Sheila Madison and Brandon Madison; five sisters: Mrs. Ellen Nielson of Waco, Texas; Mrs. Lillian Wood, Portersville, Calif.; Mrs. Jessie Dean, Richmond, Calif.; Mrs. Vernie Wood of Manteca, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Davis of Dallas, Texas. Wilfred Leroy Manley, son of Alexander and Anna Manley, was born in Hopkins, Mo., Jan.5th, 1875, and passed away from his home in Bedford, Ia., June 2nd. 1929, at the age of 54 years, 5 months and 29 days. Mr. Manley grew to manhood in the state of Colorado; he has been a resident of these two states, Iowa and Missouri, during his entire life. On Sept. 10th, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna [Belle] Stewart, and to this union six children were born as follows: Oren Delton Manley, Cecil Emerson Manley, Mrs. Dora Alice Goudie, Wilfred Leroy Manley, Thelma Vianna Manley, and Ora Stewart Manley. Mr. Manley leaves to mourn his departure, his mother, Mrs. Marshall Manley; his wife, Mrs. Wilfred Leroy Manley of Bedford; and his six living children as above mentioned; also several brothers and sisters as follows: Jessie Andrew of Portland, Ore., Carrie Borden of New Market, Dora Rouch [Roush] of New Market, Emma Stipes of Siam, and Everett Manley of Clarinda. Two brothers, Archey and Dee, preceded him in death. He leaves 5 grandchildren, as follows; Anna Elizabeth Goudie, Richard Eldon Goudie, Norma Manley, Madonna Joan and Morma Elaine. In addition to those mentioned, he leaves many other relatives and loving friends. Brother Manley united with the Methodist church very early in life, and was a member in good standing at the time of his death. He was also well known in Bedford and surrounding community. He will be missed not only by his own family, but by his many friends in and near Bedford. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Siam at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Clark M. Crowell. Interment was made in the Siam cemetery.
