MRS. O'CONNOR DIES MONDAY OF PNEUMONIA
An Early Settler Passes After Brief Illness

Mrs. John O'Connor, aged 78, died at her home in tama at 5:00 o'clock Monday morning of pneumonia after an illness of two weeks duration.The funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Thomas Fitzgerald, in the presence of a large concourse of neighbors, friends and relatives. Interment was in the Catholic cemedtery.

Rose Anna Feeley was born at Lockport, New York, Oct. 12, 1847, and came to Tama County in 1862, being brought here by her parents when she was 15 years old, the family making its home on a farm in Columbia township.

She was married to John O'Connor November 18, 1867, and she and her husband continued to live in Columbia township until the death of her husband on May 7, 1885. Mrs. O'Connor and her children lived there after at the farm home for ten years and then, in 1895, she came to Tama to make her home, continuing to live here until the day of her death, a period of thirty years.

Eight children were born to Mrs. O'Connor, one son, Eugene, dying in infancy. The surviving children are Michael and Frank O'Connor, Tama; John and Mary, at home; Mrs. Della McDermott, Redfield, So. Dak.; Mrs. Anna Foley, Elberon; and Mrs. Nora Connors, Pueblo, Colo. Her brothers and sisters preceeded her in death. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and three great-grand-children.

Mrs. O'Connor was one of the early settlers of south Tama and experienced the trials and privations which came to those who laid the foundation of this country's present prosperity. She was an obliging and accommodating neighbor, a loving wife and mother, a devout member of the Catholic church to which she gave her allegiance in her youth. She will be sorely missed by her children and those who came to know her well.
