Oscar L. Fosberg The Toledo Chronicle Man Found Dead! Last Sunday morning a woman while driving some cattle to pasture in a small grove about 3 miles South-east of Montour, in Indian village township was horrified at seeing hanging from a tree behind the bank of the creek, a part of the skeleton of a man - the head and a portion of the spinal column, the balance of the remains having wasted away and fallen to the ground. She gave the alarm and Coroner Bielby was at once notified, who went to the place and held an inquest. Edwin Taplin, John Fife and J. W. Hayward were summoned as Jurors, who after hearing the evidence returned a verdict the remains were those of Oscar L. Fosberg, a Swede, who had been working on a farm in Highland township for Wm. Scott, and that he had committed suicide. It is supposed that a disappointment in love affairs was the prime cause, which had prompted him to commit the rash act. It was developed on examination that he had owned land in Sullivan county, Mo. The remains were buried in the cemetery at Montour by direction of the coroner. |
