Dennis D. O'Connor O'CONNOR, DENNIS D. Dennis D. Connor died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. J. Foley in Clutier, on Wednesday morning, August 12, 1914. He was born in county Kerry, Ireland, on the seventeenth day of December, 1821, and had reached the ripe age of 92 years, 7 months, and 25 days. A little over sixty years ago, after his marriage to Joanna Lacey, of Vermont, Mr. Connor came to Iowa and with his bride undertook the arduous tasks of the frontier days. They first settled near Iowa City but soon after came to Tama. To them eleven children were born, nine of whom survive the death of their father. They are Sister Alphonse of Dubuque, Sister Clara, of Peoria, Ill., James, of Wyoming, Mrs. Joanna Mulligan, of Clutier, Mrs. Margaret Manker, of Eagle Grove, Mr. P. J. Foley, of Clutier, Mrs. Margaret Mander, of Pendelton, Ore., Mrs. Dennis Enright, of Tama, Dennis Jr., of Tama, and Mrs. John Doyle, of Plankinton, S.D. Since the death of his wife, thirty-two years ago, Mr. Connor has made his home with his children. The funeral was held from St. Patrick's church on Friday, Father O'Brien officiating. The pall bearers were John Whalen, John Quinn, Robert Coughlin, Dan Coughlin, J. F. Hagerty and Dan Mulligan. A large number of friends and neighbors paid their last tribute of respect to this pioneer and the funeral was largely attended. Internment was in the Catholic cemetery.
