Lorena Emeline Raines Toledo Chronicle Obituary Lorena Emeline Sheldon was born in Cheshire, Ontario County, New York, December 10, 1829. She was united in marriage to George Raines February 23, 1847. To Them were born six children, namely: George, of Lake City, Minn.; Alice R. Davis, Iowa City, Iowa; Lillian L. who died January 30, 1903; Robert B., of Independence, Iowa; Mary R. Vogel, of Toledo, Ohio, and Lorena N. Swearengen of Toledo, Iowa. The family came to this city in 1856, where she has since resided. Gone about ten years, during which time the Rev. Raines was in the active work of the ministry in the Upper Iowa Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The father and husband died January 17, 1904, after a brief illness. About ten days ago Mother Raines went to Independence, Iowa to visit her son and meet her daughter in a brief visit. While there she was taken suddenly ill and resulted in her death Sunday afternoon, July 8, 1906 at five o'clock. The funeral party arrived in this city latE Tuesday night and services were held at the Methodist Church Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, N. A.
