EARTH LIFE ENDS FOR MRS. KILMER
A Pioneer Resident of Tama County for More than Sixty Years.
Mrs. A. C. Kilmer died at her home in Tama on Sunday after an illness of several months duration. Prior to her last illness she had been in infirm health for a year or more and when she finally took to her bed there was but faint hope that she could survive. Notwithstanding the fact that the family and friends were conscious of the gravity of her condition the news of her death came as a shock to the community.

The funeral services were held at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. O. H. Sisson and music was furnished by Mrs. Frances Spooner, Mrs. Carl B. Harrison and Miss Faye Brice. Interment was in the Toledo cemetery.

Mrs. Kilmer's maiden name was Isadore Frances Chase and she was the daughter of Eli and Nancy Chase, two of the pioneer settlers of Tama county. She was born October 25, 1843, in Johnson County, Iowa, and while a small child with her parents moved to Iowa county and from there to Tama county where she grew to womanhood. On December 24, 1874, she was married to Adam C. Kilmer and to this union three children were born: Jennie A., now Mrs. John Kesselring, Jr., of Columbia township Tama county; Lottie, of Tama, and William B., of Sioux City. Besides the husband and children she is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Lydia Carter, of Lamar, Missouri; Mrs. T. A. Toland, of Stickney, South Dakota; Mrs. C. B. Spencer, of Wallace Nebraska; and Mrs. C. H. Tomlinson, of this city.

Mrs. Kilmer was a devoted wife and mother and a true Christian. She was converted at the early age of 16 and became a member of the Baptist church. This church seemed to her to be a true church home and her faithfulness at its prayer meetings even when she was not well and the weather was inclement was a feature of her loyal service. She will be sadly missed in the home, the church, and in the social circles in which she was beloved.
