Hettie West

Hettie West who died at the home of her parents, A. W. West and wife, four miles east of Toledo, Sunday evening, Oct 21, 1894, was aged 20 years, 11 months and 14 days. She was an interesting young lady, had been a student in Western College, had professed faith in Christ and was a member of the U. B. church.

She was suddenly stricken down with typhoid fever of one week's illness. The shock was very great to her parents and other kindred, as also to her many young friends.

The funeral services were conducted from the home on Tuesday afternoon by W. I. Beatty, her pastor, who used as a text, Rev. 14:13. Very appropriate singing was rendered by Misses Marta Lichtenwalter, Lillian Bowles, M. M. Baumgardner and E. B. Lichtenwalter.

A very large concourse of friends accompanied the remains to the place of interment in Hayes cemetery in Otter Creek township. In her case it was truly exemplified that "death loves a shining mark:" also the words of the Lord Jesus, "What I do thou knowest not now but thou shalt know hereafter." Hence it becomes us to bow submissively to this dispensation of providence.
