Flora Toland Toledo Chronical Died: Miss Flora M. Toland was born in Columbia township, April 10, 1860, and departed this life in the house of her birth, July 12th, 1887, being aged 27 years, 3 months and 2 days. Her disease (consumption) gradually, but positively brought her young life to a close, several years of which had been devoted to school teaching, leaving many pleasant remembrances among patrons and scholars. She united with the Presbyterian church at Tama, during the pastorate of Rev. Smitz, and was found ready to welcome the final summons from earth, using near the last, the prayer of the Martyr Stephen, “Lord Jesus receive my spirit”. Her funeral sermon was preached in the grove under which she had played as a child, and studied and rested in youth, from a text of her own choosing: Rev. 21-4, “And God shall wipe away all tears and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.” Her pastor Rev. J. Crozier, being absent, Rev. S. a. Lee, of Toldeo, officiated. The interment taking place in the Toledo cemetery.
