Iowa Dutch Immigrants on the Oregon Trail This Sioux County IAGenWeb site has been pursuing the identity of the families from the Pella, IA area who in 1864, joined in an Oregon Wagon Trail adventure. This account was written by submitter, Wilma J. Vande Berg, of the Greater Sioux County Genealogical Society. Objective of the Sioux County web site was to identify those who were on the Oregon Trail Wagon Train 1864, came back to Pella and in about 1870 moved on from Pella to Sioux County IA; a few even moved on from there to South Dakota. The BIOS - Biographies have been entered on the page www.iagenweb.org/sioux under heading ‘Biographies’ Wagons Ho the 1864 – 1870 Oregon Trail, and also on the heading BIOS on the left margin. Some of those families that stayed in Oregon and Pella are also included in the BIOS section of our page because they were in most case closely intertwined in relationships with prominent surnames of those who ended up in Sioux County Iowa. Then after doing a substantial amount of research work and identifying about a dozen of the families who moved on to Sioux County IA and those related, the submitter stumbled across the web site Iowa Dutch Immigrants on the Oregon Trail listed on https://wikitree.com . This site is a very detailed account of the families and people who were on the Wagon Train and substantiated with researched references. Please read this very interesting account.
