Farmers Mutual Insurance

Sanborn played quite an important role in the organization and success of the Farmer Mutual Insurance Association of O’Brien County, according to Wm. Treimer, secretary of the association.

The late Theo. Zimmerman served as its secretary for a good many years prior to 1923 when he met an accidental death, from which date the present secretary carried on the office which was maintained in Mr. Zimmerman’s home in Sanborn was moved then to Mr. Treimers home on a farm north of Hartley and several years later moved to a building in Hartley.

Also D.M. Norton was elected to the board of directors to succeed Mr. Zimmerman and later elected treasurer of the association to succeed the late J.H. Archer, who was a land owner in the Sanborn community.
