Order of Eastern Star

Coral Chapter No. 41, Order of Eastern Star, of Iowa was chartered January 25, 1882. The first meeting was held on the second floor of the old Pioneer building on the west side of Main street. (Rooms were later used by J.D. Long as photo gallery and the building burned in early winter of 1914.)
The Charter Members were: Harley Day, Margaret Day, Jennie Perry, Geo. H. Olmstead, Julia Olmstead, Wm. H. Skinner, Julia Skinner, A.G. Willits, Cora E. Willits, E.M. Brady, Clara Brady, Pete Miller, Eunice Woodman, Hattie Broadstreet, Lillian, Drake, Anna Velie, Angie Valleau, Ella Skinner Charlotte Puffer, E.T. Parker.
The first officers elected were: Worthy Martron, Jennie Perry; Worthy Patron, Harley Day; Asst. Matron Julia Omstead; Secretary, Cora Wilitts; Treasurer, Mrs. H. Day; Conductress, Lillian Drake; Asst. Conductress, Ella Bowditch.
Coral Chapter has four 50-year members living: Mrs. Edith Killam, Mrs. Pauline Seufferlein, Mrs. Margaret Wiley and Miss Eva Brady.
The 1953 officers are: Worthy Matron Leah Smock; Worthy Patron Wesley Taylor; Associate Matron Mildred Taylor; Asst. Patron Chas. Scace; Secretary Elbie Watson; Treasurer, Louise Scace; Conductress Annette Bonderman; Asst. Conductress Margaret Cravens.
