The Physicians of New Providence (Iowa) |
Among the early-day physicians of New Providence were D. C.I. Cook, Dr. A.H. Lindley, Dr. Elias Jessup and Dr. Benbow. |
Dr. Jessup had a large practice and later moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa. Dr. Benbow, who also had a lucrative practice, later moved to Colorado. Dr. H.P. Cutler came in 1874. He seved three years in the Fist Colorado Valley Infantry, from 1862 to 1865. He had a large practice in and around New Providence, among the Friends and other settlers. He moved to Oklahoma, where he died several years ago. |
Dr.A.I. Hunt came to New Providence in 1881 and practiced a few years. Dr. B. W. Rinehart came in 1908 and remained a year. Dr. Daniel Leary can in 1892, remaining a few years. |
The physicians now in practice there are Dr. Curtis O. Maybee, who came there in 1888 and has a good practice and the confidence of the community in which he lives; Dr. James Franklin Battin, of the homeopathic school of Medicine, came there in 1897 and sold to Dr. Felt. |
