MEMORIAL SERVICES AT M.E. CHURCH FOR ROBERT L. FOSTER

Sunday a.m. the M.E. church was crowded to overflowing with sorrowing friends and relatives of Private Robert L. Foster, in attendance at a special Memorial Service held in his honor. In addition to the carefully prepared eulogy read by Rev. J.B. Ackman and remarks in part with other documents published below, O.M. Smith, in behalf of the Sunday school and Geo. A. Lickiss representing the citizens, made short addresses before the audience, the service being intermingled with special music by the choir.

The following notice was received from the War Department of the United States of America.
September 6, 1918.

From: Officer in Charge.
To: Mr. Allen Foster, Arlington, Iowa, U.S.A.
Subject: Private Robert Lyon Foster, Ordnance Department, No. 2171977.

1. In compliance with instructions contained in the United State Army Regulations, it becomes my sad duty to inform you that your son, Private Robert Lyon Foster, Ordnance Detachment, died at this station Sept. 4, 1918, of Enteritis Acute.

3. I might add that private Foster while serving here proved himself to be a quiet, unassuming young man and a model soldier in every respect and his early death is deeply regretted by his comrades.
