MARRIED FIFTY YEARS
Special to the Gazette.
MANCHESTER. --- Mr. and Mrs. William B. Robinson, lifelong residents
of Silver Creek, Wednesday are celebrating their golden wedding
anniversary on the farm where Mr. Robinson was born. A family dinner
at noon was served to members of the Robinson family, followed by
open house.
Mr. Robinson is
76 years old and his wife is 75.
The wedding of
Mr. Robinson, son of William and Matilda Robinson, and Mrs.
Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Swindle, pioneers of
Silver Creek, took place Feb. 25, 1892, at the home of the bride's
parents. The Rev. William Montgomery, a former pastor of the Silver
Creek church, officiated.
They have five
children: Byron, who died in 1935; Milton, Silver Creek; Anthony T.,
Silver Creek; Mrs. J. W. Baird of Council Bluffs, and Lloyd I.,
Algona. There are 15 grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Robinson have always been active in
community and public affairs in the in the Silver Creek community.
Mr. Robinson was president of the Adams township school board for
many years, and was a supervisor of Delaware county for 18 years,
having served twice, from 1903 to 19122 and from 1923 to 1933.
During recent years
Mr. Robinson has been a member of the Ryan Community club and one of
the promoters of the annual Ryan Colt show.
