Lisle J. Schneider is a native son of Delaware
county and has spent his entire life here as he has found in this
section of the state opportunities, the utilization of which has
brought him success. He was born in Elk township on the 17th of
November, 1874, the eldest son of Joseph and Lois (Noble)
Schneider, both of whom survive and make their home in Greeley.
Their other children are Mrs. Harlan Stevens, Mrs. Alf Tibbott,
Mrs. Herbert Feuerhelm and Ludwick B.
Lisle J. Schneider was reared under the parental roof and
attended the common schools of the neighborhood in the
acquirement of his education. He remained at home until he was of
age and then applied himself diligently to learning the
carpenter's trade. For about two decades he has worked at his
craft and has won a reputation throughout the country as a
skilled carpenter and one who prides himself upon the fact that
whatever he does is done to the best of his ability.
On the 26th of March, 1902, Mr. Schneider married Miss Maggie M.
Willard, a native of this county and a daughter of Joseph and
Alice (Jones) Williard, who were born in New York state and Jones
county, Iowa, respectively. Her father removed to this state many
years ago and passed away in Delaware county, where her mother
still lives. Mrs. Schneider is one of three children and by her
marriage has become the mother of five, namely: Claudia H.,
deceased; Albert J., born December 27, 1904; Alice L., born
September 16, 1906; Clara H., born December 21, 1908; and Doris
T., born August 3, 1911. Mrs. Schneider is a member of the
Christian church and is active in its work. Mr. Schneider is a
republican and for six years has ably filled the office of
township assessor. His industry and thrift have secured him a
competence and he also has the respect and good-will of all those
who have been associated with him as he is a man of strict
integrity and honesty.
