John Fardy is vice president and manager of the Snodgress Clothing Company, at Manchester. He was born in Walworth county, Wisconsin, and after completing the course in the common schools entered the Waukesha high school, from which he was graduated in due course of time. He later attended Carroll College at Waukesha, preparing himself thoroughly for the responsibilities of life.

In early manhood Mr. Fardy became connected with the clothing business and, as he has so continues to the present time, he is thoroughly acquainted with all of its details as well as with its larger aspects. In 1912 he removed to Manchester and bought stock in the Snodgress Clothing Company, of which he has since been vice president and manager.  The concern was established five years ago by W. M. Snodgress, who came to Manchester from Ackley, Iowa, and organized a clothing store here. Since that time branch stores have been founded at Iowa Falls, Parkersburg and Manson, and Mr. Snodgress is now at Iowa Falls looking after the company's interest there. All these stores are excellently managed and attract much of the best trade of their territories in the lines of men's clothing, boots and shoes and furnishings. The company's business policy is a liberal one and its steady prosperity is due in large measure to the confidence which its customers feel in the high quality of the goods sold and the reasonableness of the prices charged.

Mr. Fardy was married in Shawano, Wisconsin, on the 3rd of February, 1903, to Miss Julia M. Devlin, a resident of that city. Mr. Fardy is a democrat in his political belief and while living in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, served upon the school board. Although he has resided in Manchester but a comparatively short time, he has made his impress upon the business life of the community as the local head of one of its most important commercial concerns and is regarded as a valuable addition to the mercantile leaders of the city.
