Frank E. Cole
is an enterprising young fanner of the county, operating one
hundred and sixty acres of land in North Fork township, which he rents from his
father in law. He is a native of the county, born November 18, 1888, and is a
son of Frank and Alice (Robinson) Cole, natives of Delaware county and England
respectively. The mother accompanied her parents to this country in early life
and was reared in this county, where her marriage occurred. In the family of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Cole were eleven children, ten of whom are still living. Andrew
Jackson, who resides with his parents in the vicinity of Greeley; Frank E., of
this review; Thomas Henry, also at home; Elizabeth, who died in childhood; Mabel
L., who married Ross Ham and resides in Delhi township; and Gus, William,
Bertha, Ray, Louis and John, all at home.
Frank E. Cole was given good educational training as he attended the Earlville
high school. During his boyhood and youth he also learned practical methods of
agriculture and following his marriage, which occurred in 1912, he rented one
hundred and sixty acres of land on section 9, North Fork township, from his
father-in-law and has since devoted his time and energy to farming. He is not
only prompt and industrious but also displays considerable initiative in his
work, seeking always to find more efficient ways of cultivating the soil and
harvesting the crops and he keeps in touch with the work which the agricultural
experts of the government are doing. He is recognized as one of the progressive
young farmers of the community and his labors yield him a fair annual income.
Mr. Cole was married on the 17th of January, 1912, to Miss Vera Gibbs, a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gibbs, a sketch of whom appears elsewhere in this
work. To Mr. and Mrs. Cole have been born two children, Donald and Dorothy. Mr.
Cole is a republican in his political belief and takes a keen interest in all
that concerns the public welfare. His entire life has been spent in this county
and his integrity, straightforwardness and attractive personal qualities have
gained him the respect of those who know him and the warm regard of many
friends.
