FARNHAMVILLE [p.541-542].On the C. & N. W. Ry, in Calhoun county, 20 miles southeast of Rockwell City, the county seat, and 6 west of Gowrie, the nearest banking point. Population, 125. Tel., W. U. Exp., Am. J. C. Crissinger, postmaster.

JOLLEY [p.659]. On the D., M. & N. W. Ry, in Calhoun county, 8 miles northwest of Rockwell City, the county seat and usual banking point. Population, 100. Tel., W. U. Exp., U. S. F. C. Mallory, postmaster.

LAKE CITY [p.688-689]. A flourishing town, located on the C. & N.W. Ry, in Calhoun county, 14 miles southwest of Rockwell City, the county seat, and 90 northwest of Des Moines. It has Methodist, Baptist, Christian, Presbyterian and United Brethren churches, a public school, 2 banks, 2 elevators, 4 hotels, the H. Parmelee Library Association, having 175 volumes and 2 weekly newspapers, the Blade and the Graphic. Ships grain, live stock and produce. Stages daily to Rockwell City. Population 1,200. Telephone connection. Tel., W. U. Exp., Am. Mail, daily. Dr. Hiram H. Baldwin, postmaster.

LOHRVILLE [p.723-724]. A prosperous, incorporated village on the C. & N. W. Ry at the crossing of the D. M. & N. W. Ry, in Calhoun county, 10 miles southeast of Rockwell City, the county seat, and 87 northwest of Des Moines. It has 1 bank 2 churches, a public school, the H Parmelee Library Association (75 vols.) and ships grain, live stock, etc. Population 400. Tel., W. U. Exp., U. S. and Am. Mail, daily. Anna Hughes, postmaster.

MANSON [p.747-749]. An incorporated town on the I. div. I. C. R. R., in Calhoun county, 92 miles east of Le Mars, 104 north of Des Moines, and 14 northeast of Rockwell City, the judicial seat. It has Methodist, Catholic, Congregational, German and Swedish Lutheran churches, a public school, a public hall, 2 banks, 2 grain elevators, a roller flouring mill, and a weekly newspaper, the Journal. Ships grain, live stock, hay, etc. Mail stages daily to Rockwell City and tri-weekly to Dakotah. Population, 800. Telephone connections. Tel., W. U. Exp., Am. Mail, daily. Settled in 1869 it now has Presbyterian, German Lutheran and Catholic churches, a public school, 2 banks, a creamery, and a weekly newspaper, the Pomeroy News. Ships grain and livestock.
